bbloggers, cosmetics, face, makeup

In an effort to post less about eye shadow (my #1 guilty pleasure), I present to you some drug store finds I picked up recently. Well one of the items I got online. The rest I picked up while charging through the aisles of Walgreens velociraptor-style. I picked up a pack of 4 Juno & Co microfiber makeup sponges from Amazon ($18).  I typically use an Eco Tools sponge that is a dupe for the $20 Beautyblender one. I just refuse to spend that much on a single beauty sponge, especially when you should be replacing them every few months. Save your dollarz, I say. I’ve heard good things about the Juno & Co sponges. It’s a little different, as it’s wrapped in a microfiber layer, so it’s supposed to be great for blending foundation. We shall see!

I’ve also heard some good things about the Coty Airspun Loose FacePowder ($8), so I threw that in my cart as well. I tried an initial pass the other day over my foundation, and love the results. It is definitely a talc-based setting powder, which I personally don’t mind. But if you’re trying to live a talc-free lifestyle, this isn’t for you. I like to take my chances, as I don’t wear makeup everyday. I also don’t really “bake” with setting powder either. It dries my skin out too much. I will say, it has a sort of old lady kind of smell to it. I’m going to attribute that to the talc, but it doesn’t really bother me. Just giving you a heads up. I do find the formula very fluffy and powdery compared to other setting powders I’ve used. So don’t be aggressive when opening the tub, or you’ll look like Mrs. Doubtfire.

I got a sample of the Maybelline Facestudio Master Prime (~$10) in the Hydrate and Smooth (050) formula. I was actually surprised at how much I liked it. I picked up the full size tube, and they were having a buy one get one 50% off sale. So I opted to add in the green shade (300) for $5, which is supposed to smooth and hide redness. I’ll report back with my findings. But I did an initial sweep of the green shade on my hand, it did help with redness and smoothing. I have high hopes!
